Participating with a Group?

Community groups, sports teams, schools, businesses and organizations are encouraged to take part in the TD Community Cleanup. Cleaning up together is a great way to build team spirit while making a positive impact in our community.

If your group would like to participate, please contact the events team at [email protected] to coordinate cleanup supplies for your group and arrange for pick up.

Additional Notes:

  1. To ensure as many residents can participate as possible, one cleanup kit will be provided per participant.
  2. Additional cleaning supplies (gloves and bags) can be added to a maximum of 5 people (while quantities last).
  3. Large groups (10 participants or more) are encouraged to reach out to the event organizers at [email protected] to arrange for a separate pick up.
  4. Protect yourself! Please follow the safety tips on the information sheet included in your cleanup kit.

Safety Tips:

Please keep the following safety tips in mind while participating:

  • You can clean at whatever time you choose so be sure to use your discretion when choosing a day, time and location to ensure your safety. Please do not go outside to clean in inclement weather such as thunder/lighting, high winds etc.
  • Please stay off private property.
  • Please avoid potential dangers such as railway tracks, rivers, riverbanks and road ways.
  • Please ensure to wear vinyl or nitrile gloves while picking up waste.
  • Please do not pick up dangerous objects such as broken glass, needles, sharp objects, or dead animals. If you come across any of these items, please leave them where you found them and include their location in the Post-Cleanup Survey so they can be disposed of safely.
  • If an item is too large to move to the garbage can, please leave it where it is and include its location in the Post-Cleanup Survey.
  • All children participating under the age of 12 should be supervised by an adult.

Volunteer Hours

High school students can earn up to three (3) volunteer hours for participating in a cleanup.

Students may complete their cleanup at a time, date, and location of their choosing.

If students are participating on Saturday, May 2, volunteer forms can be signed that day by a Town of Newmarket staff at the Town of Newmarket booth at the Newmarket Farmers Market.
